About the event
Breath of Life
It's here! After years of people asking for more, the easily available, highly practical and powerful methods of The Breath of Life are now avaiable in a dedicated day-long breathwork intensive facilitated by Michael. This Breath of Life intensive is the culmination of several decades of breathwork practice and experience. Read more below about Michael's journey with breathwork and what to expect in the workshop.
Breath of Life is a day-long, in-person intensive designed to give you practical and powerful tools for exploring your breath, your body, and your own capacity for transformation. The practices we explore will range from strong and primordial to playful, lovingly gentle, and sublime.
Bring an attitude of curiosity, playfulness, and adventure.
The way out is in!
More than just a breathwork class, The Breath of Life is an immersion into ancient principles and methods for clearing stuck energy, regulating the nervous system, developing deep presence, and becoming more conscious of how you direct your attention and energy in life.
You are invited to learn, but more importantly move beyond intellectual understanding to directly experiencing the beauty and magic that breathwork has to offer including:
Transforming fear into freedom
Move through difficult emotions for true transformation
Balance the autonomic nervous system
Step beyond unconscious fight/flight/fawn response
Directing the prana/chi to where it’s needed in the body
Bring vitality to the body and inspiration to daily life
Develop greater nervous system resiliency
Release old emotional wounds and stuck energy
Access altered states of consciousness
And so much more
What We Will Do
Deep rapid breathing — Activate energy to go deep—the way out is in
Gentle rapid breathing — Like a panting puppy, pure love where it’s needed most
Somatic exercises — Ancient exercises to transport blood, oxygen and chi to where its needed
Directing chi/life force energy — Experience how breath and intention work together
Deep slow breathing & "breathless" states — 'Space of God' method for deep meditation
Breath retention — building nervous system/cardiovascular resiliency, improving HRV, releasing trauma/fear
Visualization practices — Explore how imagery and focused attention can influence your relationship with physical and emotional experience
This Will Support:
Nervous-system regulation — Use the breath to shift your internal state and return to greater balance
Releasing fear and resistance — Practice staying present with emotional discomfort or uncertainty
Embodied presence — Move beyond thinking about transformation and begin practicing it in the body
Daily breathwork practice — Leave with practices you can continue using to support your everyday life
No previous breathwork experience is required. Come prepared to participate fully and experience what can happen when you work consciously with your breath.
What to Bring
Bring a mat or cushion as we will be lying on hardwood floor, blanket, water bottle, and light snacks for lunch. Note: Due to the nature of this work it is best to not eat a full lunch but instead bring light snacks.
Who Can Attend?
Breathwork is for everyone! If you are currently breathing, you can attend.
After registering, you’ll complete a brief Breathwork Agreement to help you consider which practices and level of intensity will best support you. There will be more discussion and support around this in the event as well.
My Story with Breathwork
My relationship with breathwork began in the early 1990s. I was an avid rock climber and had taken up yoga to develop flexibility and core strength. While climbing, I noticed that I was instinctively using the same breathing patterns I was learning in yoga. When I began using them consciously, they transformed my ability to focus, move through fear, and go beyond what I thought were my limitations. Years of martial arts practice broadened that understanding and gave me more ways to apply it.
In 1999, my relationship with breathwork became profound.
A girlfriend of mine had developed a stubborn case of bronchitis. During a hug, I experienced what felt like an energetic transfer between us. The next day she felt fine, but I had a tickle and over the following weeks I became seriously ill. I lost nearly twenty pounds, began coughing up blood, and continued to worsen into a very serious health issue despite several rounds of antibiotics.
Months earlier, I had registered for a four-day breathwork intensive. I did not think I was well enough to attend, but after hearing my story, the facilitator encouraged me to come.
Doing intense breathwork with a severe respiratory illness was not easy. By the end of the intensive, I was exhausted, raw, and depleted. That night, I awoke in a deep sweat—and the mysterious illness was gone. What followed were weeks of powerful kundalini awakening experiences that changed my life. They left me with a direct knowing of the power of the breath and of what can happen when we trust ourselves enough to move beyond perceived limits of what we think is possible.
Years later, I put the work to another practical test. Pain medication used during extensive dental procedures left me feeling sick for days, so I asked my dentist to let me try using breathwork instead. She thought I was crazy but agreed to let me try. I was nervous, but as I relaxed into the sometimes intense sensations, regulated my breathing, and trusted the process, the pain went away. Since then, I have undergone more than a dozen procedures—including a root canal and deep cavities—without painkillers.
These are my personal experiences, not medical instructions, guarantees, or promises that anyone else will have the same results. I share them because they showed me, directly and undeniably, that we can have far more influence over our experience than we have been taught to believe.
Breathwork continues to be part of my daily life. I use it to regulate my nervous system, go deep into meditation and altered states of consciousness, and remain resilient through the stresses and challenges of life. The extraordinary experiences get the most attention, but daily practice is what anchored them and made them last. I whole heartedly believe that if you practice, dedicate yourself and open your heart that you will undergo your own transformative journey.
